How do I know if I need therapy?
If you are struggling emotionally, feeling stuck, or experiencing difficulties coping, I recommend giving therapy a try. Many people experience these difficulties at some point of their lives and therapy can expedite the healing journey and process. The healing journey often begins with two main qualities:
courage and curiosity. You can be afraid and do it anyway. The following is a small list of reasons why working with a qualified mental health professional can be helpful:

1. Getting outside support breaks the cycle of handling pain alone
2. Therapy helps you see yourself and your situation from a different angle
3. Therapy can help you achieve your goals
4. Therapy can help you have more fulfilling relationships
5. Getting outside support breaks the cycle of secrecy and shame
6. Therapy makes you more accountable for your actions
7. A therapist can invite you to attach new meaning to your experiences
8. Therapy can offer you creative new ways to think about and work with your symptoms
9. You're more likely to have better health
10. Therapy can lead to improvement in all areas of your life
What is your therapeutic approach?
I am trained in a number of effective psychological treatment approaches that are backed up by scientific evidence. Some of my theoretical influences include psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, emotionally focused, attachment based, trauma focused, family systems, solution focused brief, and strengths- based. I draw from these approaches depending on your specific needs. I have had the honor of working with people from all walks of life, helping them learn about themselves, tackle difficult decisions, and live a more authentic and fulfilling life.
How long does therapy take?
This is a hard question because each person's circumstances are different. During our first session we will discuss the frequency and timing that works best for your needs. The simplest answer is that therapy "ends" when you feel you have gotten to the place that you came to therapy for. But ultimately it's up to you. Some come to therapy with a specific goal in mind and end once that goal has been met. Others find therapy to be helpful that they make it an integral part of their self-care routine even after their initial goal has been met and new ones have been established.
How does online therapy work?
Online therapy is no different than in-person therapy aside from not sharing physical space together. Think of online therapy as having sessions with a therapist through Facetime or Skype. However, therapists use a HIPPA compliant software that is secure, encrypted, and follows regulations for health information and patient privacy laws. Research shows online therapy is just as effective as office sessions. If you're concerned about whether teletherapy will be a good option for you it's best to have a phone consultation so we can decide together what modality fits you best.
Do you take insurance?
I am currently in network with: Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthCare. If you are insured through another provider I can also provide you an invoice, or superbill, that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out details about your out of network benefits and how you can submit the superbill to them.
